you will get a better finish if you remove the doors and hardware. Prime and paint the casework, prime and paint the doors, let it all dry then reassemble.

Unfortunately if you try to paint the cabinet doors in place you will actually cause yourself 10 times the work and aggravation plus take 3 times longer to do. And if you have exposed hinges then it would be impossible to get clean paint lines around the hinges. Unless you are not painting the cabinet frames and not painting the back side of the cabinet doors and your hinges are hidden. Then I can see painting in place but only after taping back side of door edges and cabinet frames. Be careful of drips.

You need to remove the hardware, and doors. They need to be cleaned with a wood soap, Murphy's oil soap. You need to lay them flat to avoid streaks and bubbles. Next buy high-gloss paint so you can wash it. Spray paint the hardware, or buy all new, very pricey. Good Luck!

Sometimes the short cuts we take end up causing more work in the end. take the doors off, hinges off, hardware off. Do it the right way to begin with and you'll be happier with the result! 😀

Decided to have mine done correctly. So hired a painter who was recommended.

Saved up money, so it wouldn't be such a shock, but am finding out, he's very reasonable. This, I think, is my last project, as I'm so old I don't buy green banana's, like it's been said!

You really need to remove the doors. It will look sloppy otherwise.

If you are going to do your kitchen cabinets, please do not short cut this. It actually will be easier to paint if you remove the doors and the hardware. Number the doors and the corresponding opening as you remove them and replace in the same way.
