Should I trim my Climbing rose bush?

was given rose. Ush ,,,put it up agaist wall and it climb beautiful all summer ,,,do I trim it now in fall or wait until next summer to trim,,,thank you

I have a10' high rose and prune it in the very early spring before new growth appears. I live in Alberta so winter can be hard on a rose and prune the branches that suffer 'winter kill' - (they go black in the spring). Work several handfuls of alfalfa pellets (from pet store or farm supply store) into the soil in the spring - the rose will thrive!
