This is a long shot of an idea but does anyone know if I used a clear contact paper then put something like a certain pattern on a wrapping paper over it then put the clear contact paper over the wrapping paper if it would then be waterproof?
or what about painting contact paper let's say so I could change the colors of my kitchen cabinets and still be able to remove them upon moveout so I could get my deposit of $1500 back.

Your idea sounds challenging, but not impossible. Have you thought of just using a contact paper you like as your first layer, then clear as the second? You could make the clear about 1/4" larger around to "seal" the inner paper for more water resistance.
Here's a link that might give you some ideas. But beware. Contact paper does leave a reside so if you are worried about your deposit, have some GooGone handy when you move. Hope this helps.

You could Decoupage the wrapping paper to the contact paper. Then after you've glued the wrapping paper to the contact paper. Put a coat or two of the Decoupage over the wrapping paper. This glues it to the contact paper, and the top coat of decoupage seals the wrapping paper to the contact paper. Have any more questions send me a message.
..seems what you need is a POP OVER Counter. Make one or get a carpenter to do it for you, Then you can do anything you want to it...........
my boyfriend has a flooring buisness and can make all kinds of cool stuff but I rent and am dealing with a Company that handles it for the owner who lives ln CA or else I'd ask them myself. The property management I go thru is a nightmare so the less I have to talk to then imthe better since they're rude and greedy. But back to my new idea on researching this....
i was just hoping for something that was different that was super cheap to make as a backsplash or the peel and stuck tile myself and I'm thinking now from what I read that maybe I could use Carpet Tape to place on the surface since I hear it doesn't leave much residue,It's thin so won't be noticeable and is affordable but I'm just curious to how it might work with this project for maybe using clear contact paper on a non sticky side and then putting maybe like a funky wrapping paper over that or some kinda paper design and then another layer of contact paper to seal it off.think that sounds possible if I was careful enough when auctually designing it for that to be worked out?
