I would seriously just replace it. You can find some decent inexpensive options, and its easy to change.
I spray painted mine and added new lights and glass lamps and it looks brand new
You can prime and repaint it. Rustoleum makes some nice metal finishes. I repainted a brass tub faucet (nickel) and it still looks good about three years later.
Use a paint that would adhere to brass. Go to a Homedepot or Lowe's, to find this paint. Good Luck!
Use what you want. Take it down REMEMBER TO TURN THE POWER OFF... AT THE BREAKERS... & WIRE NUT THE EXPOSED WIRE ENDS... SEPARATELY... NOT TO EACH OTHER!!! Gently sand off any rust/corrosion. Spray paint or if brush paint, brush w/ Gripper first; a Glidden paint product found at Home Depot, etc. Wallpaper it, w/ left over wallpaper, cloth, etc. Check out Pinterest.com for suggestions.
