rosemary grows wild in California almost to the size of trees (I have seen it around Northern LA) and is originally from Mediterranean areas so soil with good drainage and plenty of sun is important. If you get any cold weather, then I suggest a container that can be brought into the house in the cold.
They need sun and well draining soil, they do not like their feet wet. Check this out!

Good drainage and at least 6 hours of bright sunlight
Be sure you plant it where you want it to stay. It doesn't like to be transplanted due to a long tap root. Full sun, good drainage, can tolerate being on the dry side. Love those gorgeous blue flowers ♥
