My hubby gave me a summer garden lantern many years ago, and it has been loved and used faithfully. I had been considering tossing it because one of the windows were broken in a windstorm. It was in pretty tough shape and I didn't really know what to do!
I took this photo up close with a flash on purpose to show the damage. It was rusty, broken and dirty. Luckily I came across some fun ideas on Pinterest and chose to run with it.
First I washed it with hot, soapy water just to get any dirt and residue off. Next I used a paintbrush to apply Lime Away, or you could use CLR. This cleaned up any rust.
I painted it with black acrylic paint, which gave it brand new life! It looks so great!
I had some dollar store fall floral decor and some pinecones from my back yard. I filled up my new to me autumn lantern with gorgeous fall colors.
This vintage decor looks like it belongs in the pages of a magazine! I am so happy with this result, and I get to share it with my friends and family this Thanksgiving!
