Most tiled tops are set on some type of "base"( backer over plywood is my favorite for instals but not so much when it come time to demo) Granite slabs are often set directly on the cabinet tops, It the tile is set on ply that has been screwed to the cabinet tops (as in the most common) then getting the plywood up is going to be a challenge and has a high potential to damage the cabinets if not done carefully.

Ive used an air chisel to demo the tile away to gain access to the screws that hold the plywood to the tops of the cabinets, it a messy project and the tile gets broken into many small bits. Just ripping up the plywood with the tile on top may rip out the cabinet's top rails...these are the most vulnerable.
