There are many different palms and other large artificial plants that you can start with. Put them where you want and fill in with smaller plants to make a garden of the shape you want. Cover the area with mulch or stones to finish off the garden look. I would pick plants that normally you would have in a lanai for wherever it is you live. You should be able to find the plants you need, even if the flowers are picks, no one will know.

  • Instead of plants what about yard art instead? If furniture is grouped nicely, pillows, throws, candles, lanterns, etc. Then a few flower pots filled with sand with hand made "flowers" made from thrift store plates, aluminum cans etc., that you make yourself or buy at craft fairs. You can always buy a few bunches of inexpensive cut flowers from the market or Walmart or Trader Joe's or similar type store when entertaining.
