"Taking the time, energy and expense of trying to beautify your yard, to have ravenous deer eat it all down to nubs can be extremely frustrating! With careful planning and selection you can make your yard a beautiful, colorful garden sanctuary.
There are no deer "Proof" plants, but there are ones that they are much less likely to eat. I've put together a list of what I think are the best deer resistant plants for our area of South Carolina." http://www.scgardenguru.com/deer-resistant-plants.html Good luck!
Look in your seed catalogs; Breck's has a little symbol of a deer with a line through it for varieties that deer won't eat. Daffodils/narcissus are poisonous. Deer love tulips. Moles love small bulbs; I plant mine with moth balls; don't know if it will deter deer. A layer of chicken wire laid over the bulbs, then add the topsoil in a new bed might slow the deer down. I'm sure there are chemical deterrents; sometimes it's easier just to plant what they won't eat.
none! They will even eat daffodils which everyone says they will not touch.
they usually dont like fuzzy type plants, but they will test stuff. I planted begonias which deer dont like but the first night I cam out in am to find a few pulled out and laying on ground. The dont rat my day lillies either or marigolds
Deer hate marigolds
Hi there, someone else asked a similar question on hometalk and got loads of great advice and feedback so I'm hoping this thread here - https://www.hometalk.com/diy/outdoor/pest-repeller/q-i-need-ideas-for-deer-resistant-plants-3298668 will give you ideas. They're based in Texas but a lot of the plants suggested will grow in your area.
