I love fall, from the colors, decorations, pumpkins etc. What I don't love is the price of some of the seasonal decor. I can't wrap my brain around paying $25 for one cushion to use for a couple of months. I have been seeing one advertised at Pier One and decided to make my own version . I love how they turned out and the best part is that it only cost me $5.00 to make.
I started this project by going thru my junk trunk to see what I had on hand. I found two cushion covers that I had bought at Dollarama a few years ago for $2.00 each I also had some felt leaf cut outs on hand and a fabric marker. I made a quick trip to Dollarama for some velcro adhesive dots as I wanted to be able to change my decor from year to year.
So using a newspaper I put it inside my cushion covers before using my marker so it wouldn't go thru to the other side. Then I started writing the words I wanted on my cushions. I did this free hand. You can use stencils if you have them on hand.
One cushion has hello on it the other says fall. You may have to go over the words a few times.
Next take your leaves and velcro dots, place your leaves where you want them and add your velcro dots on the back of the leaves and press onto the covers. Repeat step on the other cushion.
Here they are finished.
Love my new cushions!
