I bought this 1970's metal television cart for $5 with the intention of giving it an updated and modern look.
Here is the before photo of the TV cart - typical cart that we have all seen with gold metal frame, wheels, and laminate fake wood for shelves.
Removed the wheels (they were in good shape, just a little rust that needed a wire brush), removed the laminate shelving. Used the wire brush to remove the rust from the metal frame too.
I spray painted the metal frame with Rustoleum metallic bronze paint and did the wheels too. Took about 3 light coats of paint to cover completely.
Found a couple pieces of wood in the wood shop that could be cut to fit the frame to replace the laminate shelving. After sanding, I stained and used a polycrylic top coat to finish them.
Attached the new wood shelving and the freshly spray painted wheels to complete the whole new look!
Here is the drastic before and after of the TV Cart - so excited with the new look!

looks great! Would you mind sharing how you attached the wood shelves to the metal frame?

I have a similar cart but with glass shelves. Do you think it would work to cover the shelves with the marble contact paper?

I really think carts like these were usually used in the kitchen, especially for microwave ovens. Regardless, it's a great recycle!

Only if you wanted your microwave 15 inches from the ground - it is definitely a TV cart. I have seen the microwave carts too - they are higher off the ground.
