Update: My First Attempt at Refinishing Old Furniture

I love it. Lots of storage for gloves, hats and scarves. And a bench just the right height for putting on your boots.
UPDATE: I did really love these pieces BUT I do get bored easily. Follow this post down to the end to see how I changed it.
Finished 'hall tree'.
Bought a $40 Goodwill find for $20 with coupon. Sanded, stained, painted, distressed and poly. Added hardware I had on hand.
Coat rack is made from a 1x6 cedar picket, stained, painted, distress and poly. Framed with stained leftover trim. Added oversized hooks found at discount store for $10.
And the change is.....
This is the storage bench I have had for quite some time. This pic is at Christmas 3 years ago with my grandson, Mason. I loved this bench. Not alot of storage but it came in handy.
This is the same coat rack with fabric added to match bench.
And this is my final, for now, project. I love how it looks and not so bulky in the hallway.
