I had a brainstorm one night while thinking about new ideas for shelving & storage. I needed a new way to store my shoes, since the bag on the back of my bathroom door(you know the type with all the slots in it), was rapidly dying. Those plastic ones just don't last & I needed something so much cooler & kinda wanted to display my more awesome & fancy shoes. so I thought- why not make some really killer shelves to show off those kicks! I had seen a few skateboard shelves here on hometalk- so I decided to take it up a few notches.
You will need L shaped brackets & drywall screw anchors. I learned that part the hard way. These skateboards are heavier than you think, especially once you start adding your shoes!
I ordered blank skateboards from a vendor on ebay for $5 each. Since I bought in bulk, he gave me a deal on shipping as well. I was super happy!
I didn't want them to be plain white- so I used a bunch of temporary tattoo images I had to decorate them. I went with a theme on each one.
I went with girly stuff on this one, as you can see.
I did more tribal on this one.
I did more goth stuff on this one.
I used traditional tattoo images on this one. I sealed them with 2 coats of spray lacquer.
Here you can see how I attached the brackets. you'll need to measure & place them on your wall, space them out evenly, according to how much space you want between each shelf.
Here are the finished shelves! As you can see, the artwork is on the underneath. Since they were going to be up kinda high, that's why I did it that way.
Ta Da- now you can see the purpose of these awesome shelves- or at least a preview.

I like this idea, but, it looks like you didn't leave enough room between shelves. It might just be the angle of the picture - how much space did you leave?
