In honor of National Craft Month, isn't it time for all you DIY lovers to spruce up your fireplace mantel decor? Make your mantel shelf shine with these fun and easy tips for making a beautiful living room centerpiece.
1. Play with Colors- Whether you like bright accents or traditional black and white, mix and match tones, textures and shades to make your mantel shelf visually interesting.
2. Pick one Main Focal Point - Whether it's a gilded mirror, leaning piece of art, family portrait, or birdcage, have one thing to focus on and work around it. Too much will look cluttered and detract from your design.
3. Get Creative- Mantel shelves don't just need to be used above a fireplace. They look great as display areas in any room or even over your bed frame instead of a headboard.
Don't have mantel shelves or looking to update yours? No problem! We have a variety of wood, stone and timber in finishes to create any look. http://goo.gl/9BxAa9

The heart is commonly the center of the home, a place to gather with family and friends. I think the mantel should reflect just that, placing things that remind us of those moments. Photos, a toy, some antique that reminds you of 'grandmother'. Granted not all decor is 'homey and cluttered' if your home is a show case, then decorate it that way.. but if you've ever had children, and know that the fireplace isn't the 'cleanest' you'll soon find a way to decorate it in your own style and way.
