DIY Photo Board Book With Mod Podge

On my blog, I've shared how to transfer a photo onto wood using mod podge. This craft got me thinking about other applications for this technique. And since we had another special event to make a present for recently, I set out to create my own board book.
I had two copies of this 6″ by 6″ board book, “Sleep.”
It wasn’t very thick, so I wasn’t sure how it would take the layers of mod podge, but I gave it a whirl anyway.
I got started by coating all sides of the book in black acrylic craft paint using a paintbrush. Two coats covered it completely. Make sure you let it fully dry before going on to the next step.
Then I created a Word document with 6″ by 6″ images of the two cutest little girlfriends ever (spoiler – it’s my daughter, Lily, and her friend, Emirsyn). My mother-in-law was kind enough to print the images for me with a fancy laser printer so they were vibrant and heavy duty. I think a normal inkjet printer would also work. I covered the black book with mod podge, laid down the printed image, smoothed it down, and then covered the top in mod podge again. Visit this post for a more comprehensive tutorial.
This little book we gave my daughter's friend as a birthday gift. She absolutely loved it! Plus the project was easy enough that my 4 year old daughter could help with multiple steps.

I think this is a fabulous idea! I am planning my daughters wedding and was looking to purchase very expensive bould books. I can do this instead!!!

Is Modge Podge nontoxic/drool proof? My toddler grandchild still sticks a lot of stuff in her mouth and kisses all the people/animals in her books.
Where do I get a wood book
How about making copies of the picture and do a Mod Podge transfer? My mother did this over 50 years ago for our wedding invitation put on a scalloped piece of wood and I still have it! Easy to do and still have the original invite also. Then put together as a book however you like.
