I love to take regular things and make them just a little more special by adding my own touches to them. This is what I did to a plain, black Torchiere. If you don't know what that is, here is a picture.
I had these strips of wired beads saved for a project that I might do someday, and decided to use them here. I got them out of the boxes, uncoiled and spread out the wires as far as they would go. When I got finished I had several strips of beaded wire that was pretty, but would not hang on the lamp by itself.
Enter the small "S" hook. I pinched one end together a bit tighter - it would go around a bead - and I loosened the other end. This was so that it would fit over the thickness of the glass on the lamp.
Next, I had a string of beads that I cut to be the same length as the beaded wire that I had just untangled. I wrapped a gold cord around it starting at the space between the last two beads. I tied a knot in the end then wrapped the cording around the knot and up the string of beads with one wrap going up the bead and several more wraps going in between the space between the beads.
This string, too, would not hang by itself from the lamp, so I used an "S" hook again, by bending it out on one end for the lamp and fitting the other end snuggly around the gap in the space between the first and second bead on the other end.
Next, I had some wide, wired ribbon and I used that to wrap around the staff of the torchiere. The wire held the ribbon tightly to the staff with onewire at the top one wire at the bottom.
Then I hung the beaded strings on the glass part of the lamp at even intervals.
Then I hung the wired beads on the glass part of the lamp.
I plugged in the lamp and turned it on. Voila. A pretty addition to a very plain lamp. And, it is pretty just standing there with the light off, too. It's a little bit of "Bling" for your room.

I might have tried a large paperclip instead of the S hook. The wire of the paperclip is thinner and less noticeable and I think it could handle the weight of the bead strand. Very pretty product and I am looking at my lamp to do this to...i love the bling with and without the lamp lit!

I like your thinking Harleysq03. I just didn't think of that. I did have to bend the "S" hooks out in some of the places because the width of the glass on the lamp varied. Isn't that crazy? A paperclip would have made that SO much easier....

very talented and crafty! This reminds me of how my late beloved Mom (Barbara Kay) would always see beauty in bland! Thank you so much for posting this!
