Thanks to a post by Alicia W., I made this one for my sister. I hesitate to post since it came from another person's post. But, was invited to do so by Hometalk. So, credit goes to Alicia. Thank you Alicia and keep em coming. I made both sides, Fall & Winter.
Alicia used lathing strips. I must admit, I don't know what that is. I used leftover strips that were in my garage. They were those pine strips that you use on a wall. I had different stains ( again leftovers ) that I used. I glued them with E6000. I did follow Alicia's painting on both sides.
It only took one small corner of a bandana. Glued it on.
I didn't have much luck with putting ribbon around my wreath. So, I added leaves and acorns. The wood part is attached with wire at each corner. I was worried that you would see the fall decor on the winter side, and vice versa. But it worked out okay. I can see a fall leaf only at the top of the other side. Not bad.
The back side.
I crocheted the scarf with leftover yarn. Then glued it on. Attached a felt snowflake to the hat. I posted that it took 2 days, only because of the drying time for the paint. Really it was fast and easy.
The final touch was adding snowflakes and some greenery. The embellishments were $7.00 total at Dollar Tree. ( for both sides ) I finished it with a polyurethane. Again, I want to thank Alicia W. for inspiring me to make this. I think my sister will love it. I might just have to make one for myself.
Suggested materials:
  • Grapevine wreath   (Walmart)
  • Embellishments   (Dollar Tree)

Your's is unique in so many ways. Now I'm getting fired up to do the "same" thing. I really like the "two'fer" concept.

What a great post Alicia shared with us. I agree the "two'fer" concept is wonderful.
