Foam insulation will cost more and is not a DIY install. The advantage however is that in addition to providing the "resistance" to heat flow, (which is where the R values come from) Foam insulation provides excellent air sealing, which can add for significant savings in its own right.

Our contractor skimped so be sure to do all four sides of the room.
