We have 1960's wood interior paneling. Do you have some alternate

I know this sounds counter intuitive, but a friend of mine painted hers with flat latex after a tsp cleansing. It is beautiful, and I thought it would be tacky. Sherwin Williams Kilim beig. A warm soft neutral. Do a test patch on scrap plywood and prop it up next to the wall...

I've also painted paneling and it isn't difficult. You can fill the grooves and any imperfections with Spackle before painting.

Paint over it. If it's knotty pine varnish it with a sealer.

My mom had that kind of paneling, and we painting it a much lighter color. It really brightened up the room, and gave us the option of not tearing it out

Working in trade as a Decor Artist we have been asked this questions many times,& for many reasons as one being that panels are not that easy to remove without possible further damage to ones property... With tests of designing new colours that would make this ‘product’ a new look, we created a Blush colour stain~ & only one good coat is required as you want to see areas of the wood patterns. Then we used a White tilers pen to cover the usual panel lines...after that was done;& please make sure one is masked up & the area well ventelated, using a decent make clear seal spray;& only one good coat is needed: Tip, remeber to spray @ around 20-30 cm from wall & to carefully go one way only, this gives an even look. We chose to stick with matt as the look does have an expensive touch to it as it changes the ENTIRE panel wall into something others will ask if its a new product...gloss can look good though depending on the room/// extended sitting rooms this looks fine.. In any respects its ones choice. Blush” is an unusual colour if put together nicely, so consult the pro’s if one does not feel confident enough to create.
