Hey everyone!
This glass jar/bottle challenge was an awesome thing for me to do because I had most of it already in the - Must Do - pile of craft stuff! This also helps me out in my purging of craft materials that I have been doing for at least a year now! My piles have shrunk and I have organized most of it too! I have made so many new things and posted most of it right here on Hometalk!
This is not a complicated project but there are many steps. I didn't want more holiday decorations but something more just for the seasons, spring, summer, autumn and winter.
Okay enough chit chat, on with the project!
So this is what I made!
I used 8 ragu jars, set of 2 for each of the seasons. I cleaned the jars and got off the gooey glue with coconut oil. I use that when the hair dryer trick isn't doing the job! This picture is of the things I used to represent the Winter season. The color white and snowflakes are the first things I think of when I think of winter. I have plenty of crocheted snowflakes and some very pretty lace trim with pearls along with some glow in the dark mod podge...
The lace is attached with hot glue and the snowflakes are mod podged on! The winter jars are finished!Next...
the first thing I think of about autumn are leaves, pinecones in my yard and the color brown so I went with that for autumn. I sprayed the jars lightly with some distilled vinegar then the copper metallic paint, waited about 15 minutes then did that one more time. .
I added some leaves, baby pinecones and some twisted paper! Finished!Next..
summer! I just can't help but to think of red, white and blue when it comes to that time of the year! This picture shows the items I used for the summer jars.
I had these little peel and stick stickers of the flag and a heart with USA, they are perfect for the jars! Finished! One more season to go !
So when I think of spring I automatically think of pastel colors and flowers but I don't really have anything like that in my collection of craft material. I'm just not a pastel and flower type of person so I needed to come up with something.. when... Oh I know what I will do ! I do have some pony glass beads in a peach color but no faux flowers so...
I decided to paint with the mod podge a simple rose on the spring jars and sprinkle the beads on the jar!
Add some blue twisted paper and a yellow bow! All jars are finished!
Now I need something to display them on so I will make a double sconce type of shelf. I will be hanging this on the wall so I think I will add some cork to the shelves with glue so the jars don't slide around when someone shuts the front door to hard. I'm putting the display right beside the front door. This picture is of the scrap pieces of wood I will use to make the display shelf.
I painted the shelves with a tannish color. This picture is showing how I screwed them together. The cork on top of the shelves will cover the screws up. I then screwed in the shelves to a bigger piece of scrap plywood that I painted a burnt brown. I also attached two d-rings to the top with screws for hanging !All finished!
I put battery operated tea light candles inside the autumn set and look at my new decor!
I also played around with other lights and yes the snowflakes glow at night but I just couldn't get a good picture to show but it looks nifty!
Very shiny and sparkly! I think I will add some glass gems to the spring and summer jars when the time comes to put them out!
Anyone can do this all you need is a little bit of imagination! I spent zero dollars on this project, everything was already here in my pile of craft stuff, I just needed to put it all together! I did winter and autumn jars while watching TV one night, then the next night I did summer and spring and the following day made the display shelf, so I think you could do this whole project in about a day, not too much time or work involved and you can have some new decor! Any questions or comments are always welcomed! Thanks for looking at my project!
