Chalk Paint....to good to be true?

I recently asked for advice on repainting furniture. One person suggested I use chalk paint. She stated no sanding or priming is necessary. Sounds to good to be true.
Note: The two pieces of furniture to be repainted are new. We did not like the color. Tops will not be painted. Both are shown below.
Seeking your opinions on the use of chalk paint for my project.
Chalk paint does not require primer and minimal sanding. Clean, dry and dull is the rule. If you Chalk paint you will want to seal with a water based poly or the paste wax.
Chalk paint is a thicker paint made with actual chalk. Because of the opacity of the Plaster of Paris in the paint you don't need primer. Again, because of the plaster, it fills in the nooks and crannies that we can't always see but we feel with our hands as we run them across bare wood.
Yes, it does sound too good to be true, but it is true.

Hello, I have used chalk paint a lot and like it very much. It is like other paint, if you are painting on a light surface you will probably just need a couple coats but you would have to prime anything dark. I did not do any sanding when I used it and it came out great.
