There are basically 2 ways to go---- stay with the color scheme on the exterior now and paint the door a different tone of the same color (example is a brown shade on a beige house) or go for contrast (bright orange on a beige house). Make sure that if your house is a "cool" color (blues, greens, purples) that your door is also a cool color. If it is a "warm" color (red, oranges, yellows), your door is in this color family. For example, for a green exterior, use a bright blue or yellow door.

Is your door wood or metal. If metal, I would go with Rustoleum. They now have both many colors and textures to choose from.
