Dave, first get rid of the woodpecker by what ever means is allowable! Do you have a cedar or other wood sided home? You may have to replace sections of the siding depending on how big the damaged spot I entered "repair woodpecker holes in wood siding" in Google and came up with more information than I could read. There were some great Youtube options you could check out as well. Good luck with your project.

if they are damaging cedar siding or your facia boards, I highly recommend replacing them with decorative vinyl planks or the vinyl cedar shakes or siding. (Not vinyl siding. Cheap stuff.) you'll not get rid of the birds as they are after what is living in the side materials of the house. Your breeding their next meal so to speak.
