Adding a sealant can help prevent chips and wear, but its not necessary.
Hi Steven. I would put a clear coat on them to protect them. It will also make it easier to clean.
It would help stop scuffs and scratches. you can get vey matt varnishes now which don't alter the look of the finish and seal quite well.
