Faye from used Vanilla Frosting, Happy Hour, Natural Wax, and Antiquing Dust to transform an old hutch into the perfect storage piece for her ensuite bathroom! Don’t you just love a good upcycle?
When I was lucky enough to come across this once loved but since forgotten dining hutch, I had every intention of restoring it so that it could continue its’ life in someone’s dining room… however things don’t always go as planned… and that’s neither always a bad thing.
It dawned on me one day that this charming piece just might fit perfectly in our ensuite… and after giving it a try, it did — the most PERFECT fit indeed — clearly meant to be, and meant for ME! This once dining hutch, is now our ensuite cabinet… and I am over the moon in love with it!
Our ensuite holds warm tones of cream, grey and a somewhat robin-egg blue. To hold onto that palette that I love and have no intensions of changing anytime soon, I chose my transformation colours accordingly and eagerly got to work:
- Cleaned piece thoroughly, and removed hardware
- Applied 3 coats of ‘ in the colour ‘Willow’ for an authentic-looking aged effect
Glamouring up, has now become a whole lot more glamorous for me! This addition to our ensuite is simply delightful.
