I would check with a business that works with window tinting. If you try to replace it yourself it isn't easy to do without air bubbles. They also know what the requirements of your states tinting law are and will adhere to them, if you put on one that is darker, the police can stop you and ticket you.
I would contact an auto accessories shop and ask them. Laws have changed in 17 years regarding tinted windows so you would want to know what you can do before you spend any money. And then get a quote on having them do it and what it would cost for you to do it yourself.
