New Shelf From a Printer's Tray

After moving my living room around, I had an empty space on the wall above my tv. I happened to find this printer's tray, which was the perfect size for the spot, at a local antique store. After a trip to Home Depot for a board and some corbels, putting this shelf together was easy! I simply cut the board, stained the new pieces and attached all together with screws. Now I have a new shelf that I built with my own hands (it's very gratifying!) and that I love!
This shelf was made with only 2 corbels, a 6" board cut to size and a vintage printer's tray
I chose a board with a visible knot to give the new wood shelf a little bit of character.
The printer's tray was the prefect size for the area above my tv and the addition of a polaroid banner complete's the look.
I simply stained and added corbels and a 6" board to the top of the printer''s tray

I love it! I'd never have thought of doing such a thing. It's just right. I'm having the same problem right now. I moved my TV armoire to the corner, so the space directly across from the sofa is bare. I am waiting for inspiration on what to do with the space. Nice job!

@Cheryl Thank you! It worked out really well and I'm super thrilled with it. Except my cat keeps knocking stuff off it so it never seems to look as cute as I'd like! :)
