Decorating on the Go: Paint and Fabric Swatch Kit

I finally got tired of never having what I needed when I needed when I was out shopping, so I created a cute little paint and fabric swatch kit that compiles everything related to our home in one place. I now carry this in my purse, and it makes my life so much easier!
There's no telling what I might find in my purse on any given day. With two young kiddos, you'll likely always find a couple of diapers, some fruit snacks, pouches of apple sauce, a pacifier, and maybe a stray sock or two. Until recently, you were also likely to find bent or torn paint samples and tiny, fraying fabric swatches buried in the depths of my purse.

I was always trying to dig them out when I was shopping for home decor, only to find I didn't have the swatch with me that I needed to match. But no longer! Decorating just got a whole lot easier {and more organized}!
I wanted to make sure this swatch kit would be durable as well as flexible (so that it can easily be updated as we change things up around our house).

The cover is made from durable chipboard, and I added a cute polka dot rubber band to prevent the swatches from swinging from side to side in my purse and getting bent. The fabric and paint swatches inside the book are reinforced so that they won't get ripped out, and a flexible ring with a screw closure keeps swatches securely together, but makes it easy to update.
Inside, there are divider pages that separate the colors and fabric swatches by room.
My new swatch kit goes with me everywhere so I never again have to wonder whether that vase would look good with the color of my living room pillows. You'll find the full tutorial on my blog at the link below!

Great Idea, did you know that even the most trained eye can't remember the hue of a color family so this is a great idea and I will gather all my swatches out of my rumpled envelope and do this. Thanks from someone who is very well versed in color but has made many mistakes thinking I know the exact color on my own! :-0

Kathy, I'm glad this idea was helpful to you! It has already been saving me so much time not having to make returns, or not having to go back to the store a second time only to find that what I wanted is gone because I wasn't sure the first time!
