I have a gas grill and was told there is a way to connect a gas line from my home to the grill instead of using the

bottles, is this true?

    Hello Helen,

Sure this is true in most cases though I would suggest having a professional do the work.

This is possible and is pretty common. You may or may not need to get a conversion kit for your grill. Bottled gas is propane...and most homes are set up with natural gas. The burners in some grills are designed for only one type of gas. The pipe will also need to be sized properly some large gas grills can have very high demands, pulling this line from your gas main may or may not be easy...it all depends on the location of the grill and your existing supply lines. ...»

I set up one of my clients last fall, we were running a new gas line for a new range in the kitchen...I added and extension out through the wall for his new BBQ.

Helen, yes you can, but you will need a gas line run to the grill area, and you will also need to purchase a conversion kit from LP to Natural Gas...Assuming you have natural gas and not propane for your home. I had a 325 gallon LP tank that my home ran off of, and was able to do this without the conversion kit. So much easier than changing tanks!

Hi Hellen, I have just tapped off of my gas line to connect to my new outdoor kitchen. It can be done if you have a clear path from your gas meter or a suitable tie in spot that the plumber can tap into. Side walks can be drilled under, driveway obstructions are tougher to get under. Let me know if you want a plumber, I'll give you my guy.

    Good luck.
