I have leather and cloth, but I don't use them sometime for quite a while ,I worry that the leather needs special attention. Thank you for any help you can give me. Pat

  • I have a lot of bags too. For your leather bags, or all if you wish, make dust covers for them and before use, apply leather conditioner. Higher end bags are sold with dust covers. I have all mine stored in boxes in my closet. Some 35+ year old Coach bags too (they are changing their name to Tapestry???), and all in perfect condition with minimum care.

Have a shelf over the top of your closet rod? place a hook or screw in the wall above the shelf as high as you can get and still fit the hook of a clothes hanger over it. (the hand bag will fit flat against the wall when hung)Go to your local Goodwill or Thrift store and buy pillow cases (usually 50 cents or $1... open about 1/2 inch on the end seam and put over the handbag and hanger... for bags with out handles, place hand bag in pillow case and lay flat on a table... about 2-3 above the handbag... cut a small slit in both sides of the pillow case and thread hanger hook thru slit.. If you have enough space you might get more than one row of hangers and still have storage on the shelf

I have a lot of bags too, many I get from our town swap shop. Storage is a problem. I have as many as fit in one of those hanging containers for bags. (with the plastic pocket things) I have some others on a clothes rack and some on closet shelves. I am very tempted by bags!

Oh, forgot to say I never worry about them, I kind of like worn leather things. But I do also have lots of leather type cleaners.

Me too!!! I sound like you other ladies when it comes to purses. What I do is stuff my bags with either tissure --or sometimes newspapers and ALWAYS ---keep them on a shelf --or hanging somewhere where there is not a big FLUCTUATION in temperature---especially if they are leather, THEY DON'T LIKE HIGH TEMPERATURE, in storage, just like a leather or fur coat.---- And---leather must breath--to stay nice--so NEVER wrap them in any kind of plastic---always a cloth--or cloth bag-if you cover them.

Well, for what it's worth...my daughter (purse crazy), when apt living, put her purses in pillow cases and put them under her bed. She also used a fabric clothes container on wheels for storage. She realized she had too many when she started hanging them on the wall! The thrift store enjoyed her donation, when she got married.
