How can I remove the shiny sealant from my slate floor in my foyer?
I don't like the shine, prefer matte. And I may try to change the color of some tiles for a fresh new look.
Your floors are maybe not the perfect color BUT it would be far easier to transform the look of your room by painting the walls a lighter neutral color. What you have now looks like you're living in a brown paper bag.
LOL, now that you say that I see it. Thanks:-)
You probably could, but most gel stain I have seen says it isn't for floors. I have some on my cabinets, and accidentally removed a few spots by droppng a few dots of shellac primer on it! Sooooo if you choose to go that route, you may want to put many coats of poly on it., as for sanding, you can't go too deep, just scuff it up. I agree with Big lulu or else maybe paint it.

DIY Painting Old Laminate Floors #BeforeandAfter
You would not want to sand laminate flooring as its not real wood, its a photo copy of wood laminated on a substrate and would ruin the integrity of the laminate potentially causing floor failure.

Thank, I was hoping to just stain them and sealed afte.
I think that trying to change the look of the laminate flooring is a huge mistake. You can't just stain it because it won't soak the product. The laminate floors don't allow refinishing like the real wood flooring, which means once you've made your choice the only change you can have is replacement. You can try some other method but it will cost you time and money and probably in the end you will still have to replace the whole flooring.
I think the advice from 'Big Lulu' is the better option - paint the walls.
ok, thank you. I guess I should just paint the walls. Thanks again.
