You need a special razor, which you use on an angle, to scrape up burned on food. There is also Cerema Bryte. Start with putting paper towels over the burnt area. Next soak the paper towels with hot water. Leave on 30. minutes. This should loosen up some of the burnt on food. Remove, and scrape with razor. If you don't have one, visit your local hardware store. It would be with cooktop cleaners.

We just use a safety razor blade, you scrape with it close to the surface of the stove. Make sure it is clean and smooth so that you don't scratch the glass surface. We then soap and water clean the surface and rinse. I follow up with Windex, then a spray of vinegar to make sure there is no soap residue left on the surface.

I use a glass-top cleaner first and sometimes, just hot water but find the only way to remove burned-on oily splatters and such, is to GENTLY scrape it off with a knife. It can be easily done with an ordinary paring, non-serrated, knife.

The trick is to hold it at an angle (about 45 degrees) then gently scrape. When done, wipe with a damp paper towel ... you will be amazed at the burnt on dirt you have removed. I usually follow that with a glass-top cleaner for a nice shine. My brother uses a razor on his welded-on splatters but I find a razor too difficult to hold on to.

I tried a natural home made remedy on the glass stove and it worked! Peel two oranges and put the peelings in a quart jar. Fill the jar with white vinegar and let it stand 5 days. After five days, pour the orange/vinegar liquid in a spray bottle. Now use baking soda and spread the baking soda on the glass top where food is baked on. Spray the baking soda with the vinegar orange liquid. It will bubble up. Wait until it is done bubbling and wipe off. Reapply as needed. I had to do mine 3 times, but it only took minutes to completely clean mine. Hope this helps!
