Anyone painted a piano lamp?

Rustoleum makes terrific metallic spray paints...remove lamp parts, pay attention to hou you do it, as you will need to reverse the process... You tube has tutorials on ' how to wire a lamp'...Be sure it is scrupulously clean, degloss if painted, or wipe with acetone if it las a lacquer finish over brass...if it's brass, just polish it!!! Dont ruin the value by painting it

Yes, block off any parts that you don't want paint on, with a painters tape. There are painters' tapes for delicate surfaces too.

Clean it off with a wipe down of white rubbing alcohol.

Sand lightly with a sanding sponge, and

spray with a primer like 123 that you can get from Home Depot or Lowes.

There are aluminum spray paints. And there are other more silver paints in cans. I would use a silver paint from Modern Masters (qt. can, so paint brush). I believe Ace Hardware still sells it, but Benjamin Moore paint stores generally carry it. OR you can always order online. A quart will last you a lifetime. :D

If you want it shiny, then spray seal with a clear acrylic sealer. It will be gorgeous!

I have wiped down old metal lamps. Let dry well. Cover with tape, what you do not want painted - and used metallic spray paint. I sprayed over old bad discolored brass, to a soft gold. Worked great. Still have the lamps.

If that gets hot, you would have to use a high temperature paint, otherwise it will stink and put out fumes forever, I made this mistake once. I don't see why it could not be painted... Rustoleum has severacl nice metal finishes... you would need to make sure any oils from hands and fingers is cleaned off with alcohol.. then prime and paint... just mask off the socket for the bulb and go for it. Several very light coats of spray paint would probably work out best.
