Solution to critters emtying bird feeders!

Chipmunks were emptying one of my bird feeders in nothing flat. I used Pam and it worked really well, but had to be renewed almost daily. Hubby thought of a way to slick up the poles that has not had to be renewed and it has been a month! He has tubes of grease he uses on the cars. He coated the poles about half way up from the ground up. It is great fun to watch the chipmunks jump up and slide down the poles, try and try again. It can be messy if you happen to grab the pole for some reason, but it really works! Give it a try and see if it will work for you.

I was advised to mix the seed or nuts with powdered chilli, it seems that birds don't taste it but squirrels do so maybe chipmunks will too
We put aluminum stove piping around our bird feeder poles purchased from Home Depot they come in different sizes we left ours plain but you could decorate them if you wanted they work great.
Pam or petroleum jelly (Vasoline) is bad for the birds!!
