Window Film

I live in an apartment and have a young kitty who loves to jump at the horizontal blinds. I can't sleep at night as she constantly tries to jump at the blinds, perhaps as there is a safety light outside the window.
I would like to put up a film 'paper' over the window and keep the blinds open, as I wish no one to be able to look in, but still want the sunlight to be able to get through, so need suggestions from any of you who has had experience with this, and need a cost effective solution. As I live in an apartment, it also has to be able to be easily removed in case I need to move and have to remove it at some point, as I live on a very fixed income... Thank you so very much for any input!

What about a roll up blind? You could find those at Walmart or a dollar store.

I have been training cats a very long time. This might sound totally crazy, but it works everytime for me. I have a cheap roll of contact paper. I cut strips and tape it sticky side out. When the cat jumps on it, it drives them crazy. Eventually they will just stop. Works for counter tops too. Lay the sticky side up, when they jump on the counter they get all glued up. They HATE it.

@SK on Elderberry Such a good idea, my cat will jump up on the countertop but then will walk across to the stove. Which I don't want him on the counters but I sure don't want him to burn his paws on the stove burners when I take the pans off the stove I have been laying aluminum foil across the burners but he getting used to the sound of the foil

@Kathleen, you might check at your auto parts stores for window film. They have it for car windows, & you might be able to find it mirrored(on one side).

Type In 'Stained Glass contact paper or Stained glass adhesive vinyl' !
  • Most home centers sell glass films that cover glass for privacy while still allowing light in. Check the wall paper area for them.

For a really stunning solution to your 'privacy' issue, have a look at one of my favorite Hometalk posts. She seems to have had a similar problem, and has included instructions: http://www.hometalk.com/diy/windows-doors/doors/faux-etched-glass-1222497
