I was so desperate for shelving In my bathroom it had none at all :( so I made this to fix that problem and it gave me room for shampoos and ornaments etc
i started by cutting out the wall sheeting and cutting it out using a jigsaw electric tool and running it up in line with the existing beams
I then removed the centre beam but kept the top and bottom beam and side beams
I then mesured out the thing sheeting that I would use as the back board part of the neiche
I then used 2 of these lengths to make all side of the box 2 to the length I needed and made extra so I could use as the shelfs I made sure it was not a tight fit or it would have been hard to get in the hole I have in the wall I wanted a snug fit but not tight so take that into account when you are measuring allowing a few millimetres shorter that the gap you have all round
One I made my rectagle box I used a staple gun to put the back board on then around the edge of the front I added some small beading you can use larger beading however I didn't have space but I think it would look better if I have of used wider . I made 45• angle cut so it was neater and finished just like a picture frame
Here is a picture of how thin the backing materiel was
you then pop it in the hole to make sure it fits well at this point I took it back out and painted it waited for it to dry then popped it back
I then popped a few screws
in a few places to secure it to the side and top beams that were still in the original wall to secure it in place and all done :D
finished :)
  1. Here is a pic of the wall with the old sheeting cut out and this is the middle beam I removed so I was left with a big empty hole

i’m thinking of doing this over the bathroom sink. How would I attach a mirrored door to cover it?
