    You can use nail that have a twist to them but with small heads and nail through the carpet just make sure you slam them all the way home. If the underside of flooring is a crawl space or basement you can use a corner brace, screw it into joist first than drew into the flooring this will pull the flooring down and stop the swueeking

    They actually sell a kit at Home depot for this purpose. It has special scews and tool. You go right through the carpet into the joists under the floor. The head of the screw is small and is pulled down into the carpet.
