Use your wood scraps to make an adorable garden pathway!
Looks like you just mix and match sections from the main trunk and the branches for a great look!
To make this last, give them a quick once over with weather proofing paint/liquid (like for fences) and sprinkle on some sand before it dries to keep the steps from getting too slippery! If you cut with a chain saw, the natural roughness will likely prevent the slippery problem.
Cutting them thicker (3-4 inches) will help prevent rot issues. Also they may float away during heavy rain :0 !
Note: if you are in an area with termites, simply buy a few blocks of candle wax, melt in a pot, then brush on to the bottom side (doubles as extra waterproofing!).
Also you can place cedar chips in the soil, and add baking soda to prevent weeds!

I LOVE this look! Thanks for all the information about preparing the wood slices to make them into stepping stones. Can you give some instructions on preparing the walkway before you place the "stones"? Are they simply placed in the dirt or is that mulch? How do you get them to sit so uniformly level?

The wood could be cut from your wood pile so not to many trees have to die
