We live in North Carolina where winters are often mild. A few years ago, my husband who is so picky about the yard, was talked into sowing winter rye. It was absolutely a beautiful yard; the problem with it was that he had to mow grass every 3-4 days...cold weather + mowing = unhappy husband...
