Put a chair cover over it, paint it or reupholster it. If you've never reupholstered, a slipper chair is the perfect piece to start with. No arms and very straight lines. Take the old cover off and use it for the pattern.
My friend used a colorful afghan she had and "threw" it over the chair "kitty-corner" for more coverage. [One point over the back, over the seat cushion and pointing to the floor and each of the remaining two points over the arms and also pointing at the floor.]
People are painting upholstery now.
You could probably find a slipcover to cover it if it's a fairly simple shape. Or make your own cover. Definitely easier than reupholtering.
