Wooden Lazy Susan Tray Using a Salvaged Table Lamp Piece

All round things must become Lazy Susans. OK, maybe not ALL but, most icon Take this lamp piece for example which I wrote more about here.

I found a floor lamp in my neighbor's garbage. Yes, I'm one of those people. I took it home where it sat for almost a year.

I forgot to take a before pic but, I found this one at our local Habitat Restore and it had the same exact round trim piece.
The original glass was missing so what I was left with was a gold trim piece.
I used a scrap piece of wood I'd also used on my mail organizer, Cosco stool and vanity chair makeovers. I love how I've gotten 4 projects out of it.
I traced it out and cut with the jigsaw until it was snuggly wedged in.
I stained the top a beautiful gray. The gold trim piece was spray painted white.
For the bottom I used a wooden thrift store casserole dish holder. This side is what will be on the table. I then installed the Lazy Susan.

To connect the two pieces I had the hardware already on hand to make it a Lazy Susan. I used this video to help with the installation.
If you don' t need to paint yours in any way, this project can be completed in 1 day, easy. Now I have a gorgeous and giant Lazy Susan on my dining room table. Something very satisfying about using old junk in new ways don'tcha think?
