What prep do I need to Chalk Paint A 9 Drawer Dresser?

I purchased a dresser at the thrift store that is veneer. I would like to paint it with chalk paint. What preparation do I need to do to it before I paint or will the chalk paint adhere to it?

Clean it and then sand it lightly. It may need to be primed, since some wood stains bleed through.

sand off the old surface finish to the veneer face.....
with chalk paint you don't have to do any sanding. i believe you can just go ahead and paint but using a bonding primer probably wouldn't hurt.
