How can you stop a refridgerator from making too much noise?

    Not much can be done. The compressor and cooling fan tend to be noisy when they run. If the compressor has become noisy and the fridge is not cooling properly the compressor is probably going bad. If it's cooling good then all is well and it's just noisy.

    check to make sure there is no dust behind the unit ,it has happened to me in the past

    I would check to see if the back of the fridge needs cleaning. It could be nasty with dust bunnies, pet hair, and gunk. Pull it out and check it out.
