Start by looking at magazines! Depending on size of your yard and money you want to spend, I suggest the backyard deck could give you endless possibilities and you could save on, add to, when and wherever you want. I love shady roofs and plenty of space for a cookout and room for friends to sit without too much furniture! Good luck!!

Some like a tropical theme, so a western theme (like where I live), some a Mediterranean theme, and some an English garden theme. Each of these have a vast number of possibilities. Hope the helps get your creative juices flowing!

I have seen backyards decorated with a "zen" theme. Everything was symmetrical. This was at a friends house and she liked to practice yoga in her back yard. One of my sisters has a very comfortable back yard with hammocks decorated with blankets and pillows. She has rocking chairs on her deck with side tables. It's all very relaxing and I love to go there. I have also seen a yard with a "fairy" theme. Every decoration is tiny. They have built a tiny town thru their flower beds. It really is amazing.
