When should I bring my orchids n from outside?

I keep my orchids outside for the summer in the shade and was once told to bring them in before the first frost...is that true?

Yes, that is very true. Orchids are tropical plants. They will not survive a frost.

I have my orchids in my kitchen window. The bloom every year, but I mist them often and water as needed. I don't know how large your windows are. Orchids are tropical by nature but here in alaska there is one that growswild but are very tiny.
Orchids live in the tropics which is why people typically place in their bathroom, high humidity. Yes, they will freeze and die. They live in rainforests in the wild. Here is a link so you can learn to care for them properly!

The cold will kill them. Most are native to the rain forest.
