One of my 2 cats (both neutered males) had taken to painting all of my walls, furniture, and anything else he could reach. I was horrified when I got a UV light. He never did that in all of the 9 years I've had him and didn't when I got him a buddy (they love each other and did so right away) but when a strange black cat started showing up outside both of my cats went nuts and the older one (9) started his wall painting, as well as the curtains out in the kitty room. I couldn't keep up with it.

My cats are indoor cats so it's not like the stray is actually going to get in here but they both hate him (and he is weird...my neighbor's cats hate him too). I've tried cleaning with a pet urine enzyme and then spraying some "No More Spraying" but that hasn't worked. He's a sneaky little bugger too; he waits until he thinks I'm not looking and then does it. He's learned that the minute I see him backing his butt up to something he gets yelled at.

It wasn't until I found "Cat Spraying No More" that I was able to finally get rid of this tiresome behavior.

Now my house doesn't smell like a litter box anymore :)

Pet Stores sell cleaning products that will work on eliminating the smell. Hard part is finding the spots. Pet store sells a bluelight flashlight to glow the pet spots! Mine did not work very well! A aquarium tank blue light lite up the spots for me. (Do a test with the light by your toilet! you will see what yo look for! ). A steamgun will help freshing the litter box and toilet etc. Spraying hydrogen procidade and wiping off will help. Putting litter box outside in the sunlight freshens also. Or maybe just hand out nose plugs with the slippers when your guest removes their shoes to come in you r home (Jokeing)

You need an oder neutralizer. Pet stores carry one called Nature’s Miracle. Follow the directions. It’s kind of expensive though so you could sprinkle baking soda and work it deep into the fibers. Spray a mix of 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water till it’s saturated enough to reach the depth of the urine. Blot it dry or use a shop vac. If you have a shampooer go over the area with it. Once dried vacuum well.

I would use a carpet cleaner or wet vac to get up as much as possible. Then try using a product called Unique Pet Order & Stain Eliminator. (Look at ACE Hardware, a vacuum store, Natural Grocers, or online at Amazon.) It's a natural enzyme so it's completely safe and will not leave any residue. Cat urine can really smell and will probably take several applications and will need to be wet for awhile. If after using Unique it still smells, use Vinegar to which should help with the smell.

OdoBan Its wonderful. Our dog had saturated our carpet, right down to the pad. Used OdoBan, had to soak the carpet, but its wonderful, no more odor. Use a powerful wet/dry vacuum afterward. It also disinfects. Can buy at Home Depot. Comes in different fragrance, but is not overpowering, not a coverup. Can also be used in the laundry. Its a staple in our house.

Combine one cup of hot water and one cup of Distilled White Vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray soiled area, and let sit for ten minutes. Wipe up with paper towels.

I spray the area with vinegar. If it is carpet, you may need to spray enough to get down to the pad. Let it dry and check to see if the odor is gone. Repeat as necessary to get down to get it all. The vinegar smell goes away when it dries. If this is a new thing, take your kitty to the vet to see if it has a bladder infection or other problems. If it is not an everyday thing, your kitty may be telling you when to clean the litter box. My son has a hybrid cat that does this if he falls behind on cleaning the box, she usually uses his dirty clothes basket!
