When's the best time to cut raspberries and roses back, fall or spring

Roses should be pruned in late winter, early spring or anytime between January and April in cold climates. Raspberries are pruned in early spring.

There are differing ways to do the raspberries. Some cut them back in the fall, some after the new growth appears. I never had anyone tell me anything about them, so I always cut back all the dead wood in the spring after the canes are putting out buds. That way I could tell what canes had berries last year and what canes are still viable. You can do it either way. Roses I can't tell you anything about cutting them back as I don't have enough sun for them to prosper in my yard. Sorry!
