    Here you go:

    1. clear out all the grass, weeds, and plants that you don't want to keep

    2. Now is the time to install any kind of watering (drip) system for the plants

that you are keeping or want to put in.

    3. Lay down a good commercial weed fabric (don't waste your money on

plastic sheeting, it will go away over time and won't allow drainage when it

rains.) Buy the pins that are recommended to hold it down properly

    4. Put down the... a: decomposed granite...b: gravel...c: rocks ..of your choice.

Your local gravel/stone yard will be able to help you determine how much you need, and there are lots of size and color choices... most yards will deliver

    5. Install any new plants, lots of choices there, check with your local nursery for those.

There you go....low maintenance yard.... It will be hard work and the preparation is really important (my Mom put in her own gravel front yard and used plastic garbage bags under the gravel... the first time you walk on it the rocks poke holes in the bags and every time it rained she had WEEDS... and using a weed wacker in a gravel yard is NOT a good idea... AND after about 3 months she had black plastic shreds showing thru and waving in the wind... lesson learned !)
