You can tack it to the studs with small finishing nails or you can glue it on with construction adhesive. You'll have to use finishing nails anyway for the vertical pieces, the top and bottom pieces. Try to attach the material to a stud as much as you can.
No more Nails..........
Personally, I would use wood screws into the studs, and/or a brad nailer, fill countersunk screws, and add moulding trim to top edge, and at least quarter round to top of baseboards.
Many use construction adhesive, but if you ever want to remove it, you've got a mess.
