Nothing is more current than gray paint, distressing, and metallic touches in your home. Use chalk paint and you are ready to paint now. If you can add a window valance above your bed, or mosquito netting , it would look nostalgic/modern. Distress the edges of the bed if you want to show aging. Leave the bed clean and shiny for a reproduction look. Add drybrushing with metallic paint to ridges and edges to bring new life to the bed, and paint a couple of other things in the room like picture frames or a nightstand to emphasize the metallic theme. Best wishes 😇💞

Start by sawing the post off, not all the way. Put a hole in the top and glue some top to it. Maybe a round ball, or something with a point. You can find these thing in Homedepot or Lowe's.

If you can, cut the posts down to size (the height of the head and foot board), since the posts are what "ages" the piece. Then paint a flat finish if it has a shiny finish. That also dates the piece. Finally, if the bed is a part of a set, break it up (exchange these pieces for others in your house) since "matchy matchy" looks very dated. Most of all, have fun with it since decorating is highly personal and there is nothing "current" about it!
